I3P is the Business Incubator of the Polytechnic of Turin. It is one of the main European incubators and supports startups founded both by academic researchers and by external entrepreneurs. Founded in 1999, it is a company set up by Polytechnicof Turin, Metropolitan City of Turin, City of Turin, Turin Chamber of Commerce, Finpiemonte and Torino Wireless Foundation. To date, it has encouraged the creation of over 220 companies, which have obtained risk capital of around 58 million euros and generated around 2000 jobs and a turnover of over 124 million euros in 2016. I3P offers startups equipped spaces, strategic and specialist consultancy, and continuous opportunities for contact with investors and corporate clients. In I3P students, Ph.D. students, researchers, professors of the Politecnico di Torino or public research bodies can be accessed, as well as entrepreneurs or outsiders interested in developing an innovative startup with valid growth potential. The business sectors of startups vary from ICT to Cleantech, from Medtech to Industrial, from Electronics and Automation to digital and Social Innovation. In 2011, I3P launched TreataBit, an incubation path dedicated to digital projects aimed at the consumer market, such as e-commerce platforms, social networking websites, web and mobile applications. To date, Treatabit has supported over 330 business ideas, of which more than 190 projects are online and 120 have become businesses. Promoter of important initiatives for technology transfer, incubation and business growth, I3P's activities are part of the Piedmontese global strategies aimed at supporting research, technological innovation, social innovation and new entrepreneurship. In 2014, I3P ranked 5th in Europe and the 15th in the world in the UBI Index (University Business Incubator) ranking the annual ranking of university incubators that examined 300 incubators in 67 countries, evaluating their attractiveness and creating value for the ecosystem and for customers. In 2015 he joined Intesa Sanpaolo group in Corporate and Investment Banking division supporting Italian and international clients of the bank in credit facilities needs. Currently work for ISP Innovation Center in Start-up Finance and Growth Department focused in financial valuation and origination of new products for start-up.
Nicola, 28 years old, has a double degree in Management Engineering at Politecnico di Torino and at Universitat Politecnica de Catalunya in Barcelona. After graduation, he initially worked in an investment fund focused on Real Estate between Berlin and Miami and as Country Manager Italy in a Rocket Internet startup in Berlin. Back in Italy, he supported the development and launch of several digital startups. He is now Investment Manager at Oltre Venture, the first Italian VC focused on impact investing.
Matteo Giovannetti, 27 years old. After winning two Italian Championships at football-5-side, he moved to Turin to study at the Polytechnic of Turin. He started working at the I3P (Incubator of Innovative Companies of Polytechnic of Turin) in 2016, as business analyst before and business consultant later. Meanwhile, he graduated cum laude in Management Engineering, following the innovation specialization.
In I3P he does strategic consultancy to ICT startup and manages a team of 5 people.
